On June 18, 2010, a snake – made by women from the Kartal Kadın Ürünleri Pazarı (Women’s Product Market) – consisting of around 50 textile parts and representing the handwork sold at the market, was marched through Istanbul, starting in the outskirts of the district Kartal and ending in the shopping and cultural district Beyoglu. From Kartal, all traveled by train and boat to Beyoglu and ended their march at DEPO, in the district Tophane. Ter Heijne asked the participants questions about themselves and their experiences working at the market. The musician and rap singer Monika Bulanda turned their answers into a rap song called “Snake Power”, the music score for the video Olacak!.
